About Amanda Sandberg

Amanda Sandberg, born in Karlstad, Sweden, in 1994, is a painter who works with diluted layers of oil paint. Her figurative works move between highly detailed passages and areas of raw canvas, only loosely referencing realistic proportions. Central to her practice is the notion of the gaze: her paintings often look back at the viewer, questioning how bodies are read and perceived.
